What is the Laver Cup?

The Laver Cup is an international men's team tennis tournament that has been held annually since 2017, featuring Team Europe against Team World.

The event takes place two weeks after the US Open and alternates between cities in Europe and the United States. As it is not part of the ATP Tour calendar, players do not earn ATP ranking points.

Each team consists of six players. Three qualify through the ATP Rankings, while the remaining three are selected by the team captain. The competition lasts three days and includes 12 matches (nine singles and three doubles).

Wins are worth one point on Day 1, two points on Day 2, and three points on Day 3. The first team to reach 13 points wins the Laver Cup.

The tournament was created by Roger Federer, who was inspired by golf's Ryder Cup.
