Naomi Osaka Parts Ways with Coach Wim Fissette
Four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka has ended her coaching partnership with Wim Fissette.
The Belgian coach, who began working with Osaka ahead of the 2020 season, announced the decision in a post on social media.
"It has been a privilege to coach Naomi and watch her grow into the champion she has become," Fissette wrote, thanking the former World No. 1 and wishing her success in the future.
During their partnership, Osaka captured two Grand Slam titles — the 2020 US Open and the 2021 Australian Open.
The 24-year-old Japanese star is currently ranked No. 38 in the world after dealing with injuries and extended breaks from the tour. Osaka has been sidelined by a left Achilles tendon injury and has not returned to competition since the French Open.
