Australian Open: Andrey Rublev Reaches Quarterfinals After Dramatic Comeback

Russia's Andrey Rublev defeated Denmark's Holger Rune to reach the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.

The first four sets on Rod Laver Arena were evenly split, with the score standing at 6–3, 3–6, 6–3, 4–6.

Rublev produced a remarkable comeback in the deciding set, recovering from 2–5 down to force a tie-break. He then rallied from 0–5 in the tie-break to win it 9–7 and seal one of the most dramatic victories of his career.

After the match, Rublev said:

"I've never won matches like this in my life. It was the first time."

He will face Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals. Speaking about the matchup, Rublev added:

"Nobody wants to play Novak."

The quarterfinal match is scheduled for January 25 at 4:00 AM (Baku time).
