Bernarda Pera Closes in on Her Second WTA Title
American tennis player Bernarda Pera has continued her impressive run by reaching the final of the Hamburg European Open.
The 27-year-old claimed her maiden WTA singles title in Budapest last week after coming through the qualifying rounds and has now extended her main-draw winning streak to nine matches.
"It feels amazing. I am playing good tennis and I am happy to be rewarded for all the hard work," Pera said after reaching the final.
Remarkably, the American had lost four consecutive matches before beginning her winning streak. She credited her recent success to increased confidence and a more relaxed approach on court.
In the Hamburg final, Pera will face top seed Anett Kontaveit. A victory would earn her a second consecutive WTA title and lift her to a new career-high ranking.
