Anett Kontaveit Announces Retirement from Professional Tennis
Former world No. 2 Anett Kontaveit has announced that she will retire from professional tennis after Wimbledon due to ongoing health issues.
The 27-year-old Estonian player revealed that back problems have forced her to end her professional career.
Announcing that Wimbledon will be her final tournament, Kontaveit shared her thoughts on her decision:
“Tennis has given me so much and taught me so much.”
Kontaveit’s biggest achievement at Grand Slam tournaments came in 2020, when she reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.
