Azerbaijani Player Ayshan Karimli Makes Impressive International Debut
15-year-old Azerbaijani tennis player Ayshan Karimli made a remarkable impression in her first appearance on the international stage. Competing at the W15 Sharm El-Sheikh tournament in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, she secured a determined victory over 26-year-old American player Lauren Jacobs, drawing attention from the tennis community.
The tournament is being held from March 2–8, 2026, among women players, with a total prize fund of $15,000. Although it was her first international competition, the young athlete displayed confident performance against a more experienced opponent and delivered a successful debut.
Ayshan’s coach, Talat Rahimov, emphasized her great potential and noted that this victory marks an important step toward future achievements.
It should also be noted that Ayshan is a participant of the Azerbaijan Tennis League. We wish her success in the 62nd league competition scheduled for March–April.
